Sustainability Initiatives
The goal of TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY is to become an experimental site where we create ways to lead a fulfilled life a century into the future. To help address the SDGs and solve a range of social issues, the Convention Center, by providing a venue for MICE, will advance environmentally friendly measures that contribute to sustainability.

Obtaining LEED environmental certification
The Convention Center is located in THE LINKPILLAR 1, a building that has obtained a LEED BD+C CS (version 4) Gold precertification under the LEED environmental certification system used worldwide.

Reducing food loss in MICE events
Food residue from catering provided at the facility will be recycled using the first in-building biogas facility in the East Japan area. By promoting waste reduction and recycling of resources, we will work toward realizing a circular economy.
“City-wide MICE” Initiative
TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY is developing a “City-wide MICE” initiative, in which not only the Convention Center but the entire city serves as a MICE venue. This will make it possible to hold events using a variety of advertising media at the symbolic station plaza fronting Takanawa Gateway Station and in other public spaces throughout the city.
Overview of “City-wide MICE”
The station plaza and a variety of other public spaces can be used as unique venues for outdoor events with a special or local character.
Further, we plan to make it possible to install blanket advertising in the station and plazas in
conjunction with events and conferences, taking advantage of the features of a development that
integrates the station with the surrounding city. In cases such as notification of events to visitors
or product promotions, this is expected to deliver greater results in terms of increased brand
awareness and event participation.
